About The Ladies Networking Circle

NETWORKING | EVENTS | COMMUNITY

ZURICH | ZUG | LUZERN | SWITZERLAND

We all love the mountains but agree that the place can get a bit sleepy, so let’s get together, grow the circle and get our little villages rocking, shall we?

Whether you are new in town, job hunting, launching a new biz or simply looking to expand your network for professional advancement or to meet new amazing ladies – this is the place to be!

Our group of more than 1,700 members enjoys exchanging and having a great time but also and most importantly we are about realising what we can accomplish together when we join hands, lift each other and start with taking that small step towards a big project!

We meet regularly in Zürich, Zug and Luzern and have a Facebook platform where everyone is welcome to introduce themselves, what they do and how the group can support them!

**Note that our community is opened to all and there are no membership fees or requirements!

To stand together is to stand stronger

Who’s Behind the Ladies Networking Circle?

Hi, I’m Catherine!
I’m a highly energetic chick, Mom of two crazy nuggets of 5 and 8 years old (Victor & Julian) who apparently got some strong genes from me when it comes to energy!
I’m multi-passionate, die-hard back-packer and world traveler, photographer and writer in my free time and absolute fan of camping and outdoors. I love international gastronomy, reading and most importantly I love learning, sharing and helping others! In particular, my passion and life mission is to empower women! I do it through my work as career coach helping women bounce back from career crossroad into careers that allow them to thrive without having to sacrifice what matters to them. And I also do it in my free time with the gazillion projects I think of and undertake – you’ve probably guessed by now that I’m a visionary and a dreamer and when I have a dream or project – I make it happen! And I want to help you make yours happen too!
Before moving to Switzerland, I spent over 17 years in portfolio management and strategic marketing for the biopharmaceutical industry and my work has taken me across 3 continents having lived in Canada where I’m from as well as in Netherlands and India I’m a Biochemist who never worked in a lab (and never wanted to!) turned marketing strategist turned career coach and I’m the proof that with a bit of strategy and a good dose of proper mindset and action – everything is possible!

Our goal is to learn and facilitate empowering each other

BEYOND NETWORKING

I’m a girl on a mission to empower women and seeing our community grow, I felt there was much more we could do to support and empower each other.

My goal is to provide a community fostering support, mentorship and creating opportunities for members to also launch their own initiatives and make use of the platform for the support they need. Therefore, I encourage all members to bring their ideas on board, ask on the group for the help they need and get together to make their projects come true – and we’ll be here to support, help you get visibility, answer your questions and give you guidance!

I particularly love win-win projects where everyone benefits. Below are example of projects organised.

Women Empowering Women – Networking & Fundraiser Event

MARCH 2019

We’ve hosted the Women Empowering Women Networking & Fundraising event in March 2019 to financially support 3 amazing ladies to make their big dreams come true.

This event and collaboration allowed us to achieve 4 things in one go:

  • Raise over CHF 7,500 in sponsorships and donations
  • Give visibility to local women-led businesses who sponsored the event by acknowledging their contributions through the platforms and the event
  • Further expand our collaboration with Superwomen in Switzerland and add a new partner: Mamagora
  • Host a fabulous networking evening that everyone enjoyed!

Fashion Fair & Networking Drinks

MARCH 2019

This one is the initiative of one of our members Aliya Mamedova from Kirillove Bags. She found an amazing venue and gathered a group of women entrepreneurs to run a Fashion Fair along our networking thereby giving them more opportunities to get known amongst our circle – it was a fabulous evening!

The Christmas Gift Directory by Women-Led Businesses

DECEMBER 2018

Starting with the principle that each and everyone one of us can make a difference in empowering other women, we developed this project. The first goal was to raise awareness of how our purchasing decisions can make a impact and how we can use them to specifically decide to empower women entrepreneurs. As a second step, we developed an online Christmas gift directory to promote gift ideas by women-led business and joint forces to promote to the directory to give maximum visibility to the featured entrepreneurs.

Women Empowering Women – LeanIn Circle

BEYOND NETWORKING

What’s a LeanIn Circle?

LeanIn is a movement that was started following the publication of Sheryl Sandberg’s popular book by the same name. In short, the book is about gender differences in the workplace and how the author encourages women to “LeanIn” at work and take their place.

There are now over 40,000 LeanIn groups worldwide through which women get together and support each other towards empowerment. The movement has mostly been popularised in the corporate world but it is slowly expanding to other groups such as women entrepreneurs, women returners, etc.

Our LeanIn Circle – Women Empowering Women

I noticed however that LeanIn groups are still mostly working “in silos” as they group women of similar backgrounds and situations, for example women entrepreneurs or professional women from the same industry or company.

I found this to be an important area of opportunity – which happens to also be aligned with my aim for the Ladies Networking Circle group – that is to create bridges BETWEEN women of the various groups (e.g. professionals from the corporate world / entrepreneurs and freelancers / moms-at-home / job hunters & returners) and fostering mentorship and support between women of various groups or in other words – helping Women Empower Women!

For example, how can women who are employed better support other women who are job searching or aiming to return to work after a career break and how can they find each other? Similarly, we all know that women entrepreneurs need support to get their businesses off the ground – but as non-entrepreneurs, do we understand how we can support them doing so?

To achieve this, the group aims to organise various activities, starting with round tables to better understand the needs of each group and support the development and awareness as to how we can better support each other and create the opportunities to do so.

Our LeanInCircle is a working group where members are committed to join our monthly meetings, brainstorm on how to achieve our goals and get involved in organising the various activities.
